RE-WIRING | FULL OR PART RE-WIRES

When do I need a rewire?

It isn’t always easy to tell if you need a rewire , mainly because a large majority of electrical installations are hidden behind walls, under floorboards and above ceilings.

At Correct Electrical Services we offer a comprehensive inspection to determine whether or not a rewire is necessary.

After we have carried out the inspection you will receive an electrical installations condition report (EICR), detailing any deterioration damage, hazards and anything that doesn’t comply with today’s safety standards and could potentially give rise to danger.

All electrical installations will corrode and deteriorate over time. Like any other working mechanism, they are made up of various components and eventually they will need replacing. If your electrical system is more than 20 years old, we would always advise having it checked at regular intervals to ensure your home is running efficiently and most importantly safely. We understand the importance of keeping to deadlines and making sure your project stays productive from start to finish. Working side by side with all parties involved, we plan our timetable accordingly to ensure your project runs smoothly and deadlines are kept.

All our new rewiring installations will be monitored regularly and follow the latest BS7671 regulations and meet Part P legal requirements. We can also certify all new electrical appliances.

Reasons to rewire your property include:
  • You have wall mounted light switches in bathrooms.
  • Round pin sockets and light switches are still in use, sockets mounted in skirting boards, black switches, braided flex cable.
  • You find cables coated in black rubber, cables coated in fabric or lead.
  • Your Fuse box which has a wooden back or even a mixture of circuit boxes throughout the house
  • Your fuses are constantly blowing
  • You discover earth wires missing from switches and sockets

Common Questions about Re-Wiring

Will I be left without electricity?

We will ensure that you have electricity throughout, you will not be left without power overnight: fridges, freezers, and other electricity dependent equipment will be protected at all times whilst the work is being carried out.

What is involved in the work?

We will replace and renew all of your existing wiring, electric sockets, light pendants, cabling and consumer unit (fuse box), however, as each installation does vary. during a site survey, we will let you know exactly what will need replacing.

What Type of Consumer Unit (fuse box) will be fitted?

We will supply you with a user-friendly consumer unit which is fitted with a series of circuit breakers. This is controlled by a Residual Current Device (RCD). This is a standard installation which will protect against electrical shocks. If some of your household appliances trip when the new Consumer Unit has been fitted, we will test your appliances as part of the job.

How long will the Work take to Complete?

As a guideline a rewire for a three bedroom home normally takes up to one week. However, this is dependent upon the installation to be carried out on each job.
